stud girdle or 4 bolt mains Empty stud girdle or 4 bolt mains

guy's while my block is torn down i pondering which way to go. as i'm just wanting to build a back up "a" head short block for my stuff after what happened this month.
so i have a dove block .080 over with bronze bushing and roller cam bearing. shouls i install 4 bolt maind and have it aligned honed or install a stud girdle
and who's stuff do you recommend?

Program makes the nicest caps IMO but they aren't cheap.

Don't waste the time on any of the cheap girdles, only ones worth a crap are the ones that require you to machine the tops of the caps flat and have full contact with the girdle.

You can probably buy them cheaper through one of there distributors. Just ask them if they have one near you.

JUST TALKED TO A SHOP HERE IN TOWN AND THEY WANT $700 IN LABOR JUST TO DO THE 4 BOLT MAIN CONVERSION NOT COUNTING THE PARTS. AND THATS ONLY JOURNALS 2,3,4

Wow..that's nuts for just the caps. I had some quotes a few years ago for $350-$400 to machine the blocka and align bore the caps. Can't see why it would be double that now.

Ace just get you some 3/4 or 1" strap and have the caps cut flat and make a strap that goes across the main it will keep it from Bowing in the middle....

Yeah we were always too lazy to do that. Laughing Just about everything would get a quick hone just to see where everything was at. Gauge does not tell all and yes if the crank spins free likely in line, but a pass with the hone tells all.
