steering rack boot Empty steering rack boot

Post  bigblockfox468 September 17th 2013, 5:48 pm

Working on my car I see I will be needing a boot soon. Bought the car with the rack in it, was told it was a Flaming River rack. Anybody know if the boot can be bought at these so-called "auto parts store" or is this something special from Flaming River? I haven't checked yet and hate going to these auto parts stores anymore Mad  they ask for info that is not necessary because they are prompted to from the computer. I get a kick out of their expression when they want to know engine size so I tell them it's a 528.

Precisely why I look up the part-specific info on what I need beforehand, and walk in and say 'I need P/N this..'

The generic parts houses like Advance are getting good with their websites, as are the brands they sell for finding part numbers for yourself Cool

They are nothing special. Same as pinto racks.

The universal rack boots from autozone are a good way to get the job done, I have used them many times in the past on factory Pinto racks & aftermarket Pinto too. The down side is the universal boots I have picked up don't seem to have a super long service life, and tend to dry out a little faster than expected.

On our fast weight conservative guys we just take them off. But that's not practical for most.

Shyt.....the crap parts I got from them weren't right. Didn't realize power to manual boots were different. Those were real hard to find for " I need them right now not in a week scenerio".Got some from another place and I actually liked the place, kinda like the old parts stores you don't see around much anymore.  Anyhow it's all back together and I appreciate ya'lls help on my bumpsteer questions too!
