UPDATE! I took the old truck for my first pull last night in Crossville Tn. It was a "street"class but lots of trucks looking more like prostock.lol....I didn't expect much with what i have but ended up 3rd out of 16 trucks.it tried to bounce taking off so needless to say the clutch suffered but held on ok.I was really surprised how the old 429 come up with that load on it.I think i shoulda put more air in the tires to keep it from bouncing. When the load hit me @295' it started the bounce a little and broke something. Not sure if its an axle or the transfer.after watching some trucks last night im sure glad i blocked up the rearend.I also welded the front and back so it pulls all 4.my old rotten tires are 31/10.5 but work out to just shy of 28 final ratio which did ok in low/ 2nd gear.im thinking a clutch is in the near future.lol...what kind would be best? It has a blowproof bell already and the 435 trans.the clutch in it is a centerforce.thanks!

AAM11.5 comes in newer Chevy and dodge trucks.
Dana 80 came in fords and dodges

GM14 bolt is strong and plenty of aftermarket support. Loads of them in junk yards.

1999 and up f250/350 have a Dana 50 and sterling 10.5 both are strong and weld up strong. Bunch of hot street diesels running them. Becoming more available.

If you were closer I have a Dana 60 front and a gm 14 bolt

Not to start a argument but 14 bolts are a thing of the past and dont hold up well if you start putting any power to it, the 10.25 dont hold up to well either if you put the power to it, if you are planning on just staying in a low hp street class then either should work.

There are lots of options and most depend on rules. You could put a Rockwell axle in if the rules allow. Built it as tough as the rules allow. Some guys build a 1100hp motor and try and run it in a 700hp truck/class and then can't keep it together. A few guys pulling the big block HO class where I pull. They are limited on how big they can go on the differentials as in if your pulling a 1970's f-250 and trying to run a dana 80. It wasnt an option to have a dana 80 then. so they build a 1100hp motor and try running a dana60 rear and a dana 40 front axle..... it explodes and then they complain when it breaks.

If your spending money on a clutch I would put a 1-3/8" input 1-1/2 output np435 out of a f500-600 in it so that you aren't buying clutch discs twice.

Most guys don't run yokes smaller than a 1410.

Weak links are the:
np205 output
Np435 input
Np435 output if a divorced set up.

One battle is gearing as the 60,70,80, 14 bolt, aam11.5  only go up so high 5.38 maybe??

Lots of guys around me run the super swamper sts tires.

i figure i'll have to stay with some type "ford"or oem parts for front and rear.the 08 should have a 60 front and 10.5 rear but may not be 4.10 gear i wanted. it also would have a 1356 transfer maybe? any way of useing it with my old truck with the 435? this deal dont realy have rules YET,lol. when i get it how i want it i'm sure they'll start making some!  Twisted Evil

I would definitely weld it. If it breaks it will most likely be the pinion right behind the yoke. I think you will be good at your current power level. If you get a video of the next pull I wouldn't mind seeing it. Good luck

It's pretty interesting that the Right rear axle broke since it is actually unloaded by the tq of the motor....must have just been time for it to let go.  Did it start wheel hoping?

it had just started to bounce a little.I know it was not made to do what it was doing but that dana60 axle sure is little.

First hand knowledge.. One little bounce can cause a bunch of broken parts...
