Is there any clearancing needed to run aluminum 6.7" rods with a 4.5" crank in a dove block?

Yes and the amount of clearancing will depend on the brand of rod as they are not all made the same in the bolt area.

BME 396 no grinding, BME 426 some but not a lot of grinding.

In an A-460, BME396 a very small grind at the bottom of the cylinder, BME426 more grinding in the pan rail area.

Thanks Dave, I have BME396 rods.

My friend Wes became a fan of the Big Block Ford engines when he saw me putting together a 557 with aluminum rods in a DOVE block with no grinding. He was amazed.
