My 70 Pro Street Chevelle project

Post  Nitro Lew on November 27th 2009, 11:10 pm

Well it's not a Ford but I thought I would give you guys a look at what I have done to my 1970 SS 468 Chevelle . The car was bad ass when I bought it but I'm making it even better !!! The plan is to build a pump gas car the will run in the 9's on nitrous and win any car show I go to . So far I have taken the car down to just a shell . I am having everything on the car powder coated . The guy that is doing all the work for me in my best friend back home in NJ . I have seen a lot of work done by powder coaters but nothing comes close to the work John does !!! He also polishes aluminum . If anyone is looking to get something done just give him a call and tell him I sent you . His prices are the BEST you will find as well . Here is his web site www.teampowdercoating.com

I will ad pictures as I get more done and as I get more stuff back from powder coating . Here are some pictures of what the car did look like when I bought it just in case some of you didn't see it . Here are a bunch of pictures of what I have already done . I will also list everything that I'm doing .

Thanks Lew

BODY- Everything on the outside will stay the same . The only thing that will look differant is a set of wheelie bars and it will be 3 inches lower . The engine bay will be smoothed with all holes welded up and painted flat black.

INTERIOR- The car is getting new carpet and more cage . I'm also making a custom "factory looking" dash with all AutoMeter Phantom gauges . I am also rewiring the hole car sence it is 40 year old wiring "lol" All the wiring will be hiden and under the dash .

SUSPENSION- I'm powdercoating "EVERYTHING" with the syspension and steering !! I also got 2 inch drop spindles and a disc brake setup . All new polyurethane bushings in the suspension and body . Also new ball joints and tie rod ends .

FUEL SYSTEM- This will be all upgrated to 12an lines and bigger pump to handle a 250 shot of nitrous .

MOTOR- Everything inside the motor is staying the same because its a all forged 468 .It is getting freshend up . The only thing that I'm changing is a bigger roller cam , new carb and a ATI balancer . The motor was all orange and I didn't like it ! The motor will now be silver , extreme chrome powdercoat , chrome and blue pwdercoat .

TRANS- The trans is all staying the same built th400 , 4000 stall , Trans brake

REAR- The rear will be the same with a spool and 4.56 gears .

before pictures

Here are some pictures with everything stripped .

Here are some pictures of the rear after we welded gussets to make everything straight and stronger . The rear will be powdercoated the same as the intake Extreme Chrome

Here are some of the thing I just got back from powdercoating alien

These are the ladder bars . They are the same color as the valve covers it's just the way that the light is hitting them .

This is my hood latch and bracket .

This is a picture of my overflow tank after John polished it and shot clear over it . The nice thing with it being cleared is you never have to hand polish them again !!! I'm having my wheels and everything the is aluminum done this way !

Here are my 2inch drop spindles and disc brakes . The spindles will be extreme chrome powder and the calipers will be blue like the valve covers .

I made these plates to cover up all the big hole on the fire wall . They will be chromed and should realy look good on the flat black !!

Here are some pictures of the engine bay . I still need to paint instide the fenders and the hole underside of the car . It is turning out REALY good !!

Nice...

Liked your Stang waaay more, though!

(yes, hard to get some love on a Ford site for that - but think of all the crap you'd get if you were to bring a Ford to a Chevy site...they'd slaughter you for it)
