Wanted: 460 crank

Post  torkair on December 4th 2009, 5:09 pm

Heres hoping someone here has a good used 460 crank that I can throw into my 429 and grab a few extra cubes. Let me know what youve got and how much you might want for it. Btw, pics are a big plus!

Thanks!

I've got one as well, but I'm in Iowa so shipping would be pricey. Have you checked the local salvage yards? Someone has to have one in your area I would think.

Local yards are asking around $250 for a crank, no machine work or anything done to it just out of what ever motor might have been laying around. If anyone knows what the crank weighs please let me know, it cost me $90 to have a set of heads shipped from California so I dont think a crank weighs more than 140 lbs, but I could be wrong.

Haven't weighed one in years, but I'd guess 85-90 pounds would catch it.

Havent picked up any pistons yet, still in the "gathering stuff" phase of the build. Also considering a set of forged H beam rods, but thats for another post or parts order placed with Lem.

Call Adney up and get you a rotating assembly, scat 4.300 9000 crank, a set of 6.800 h beams, and a set o probe dished pistons....... It not that much more expensive to do it right the first time.

Plus like I've already told you skip the expensive roller cam and valve train and put the $$ in the inches and a set of good heads, you be miles ahead on the long run.
