On a pump gas street deal I wouldn't sweat it too much. Yes, intakes like Victors, for example, do show some minor fuel distribution challenges. But there are a LOT of us who simply deal with it with a little grinding, tuning, etc. If your looking for the perfect fuel distribution to squeeze out every last h.p., you're probably not using one of those anyway.

With unequal lengths the engine tunes to the average, extending out the front and rear helps shorten the runners and raises the peak

The Holley List Number 7128 460 Ford Marine Carburetor has directional notches on the bottom of the secondary downleg style boosters (drivers side facing left, passenger side facing front ) and they were likely used with the 429SCJ intake in boat applications. The L-88 Holley's used spivies one front and one rear along with cross jetting to try and balance fuel on the cut down divider dual plane intake on BBC's.
Tie wraps on boosters in the direction that more fuel flow is needed have been used as a temporary method to see if it will improve the lean area, and then permanent spivies attached to the boosters if they are needed.
A few of the old Mopar 383HP and 440HP Holley's even had different size holes for the power valve channels to help balance fuel flow.
In my opinion for a street car it is a lot of work for very little gain and not usually needed with the better intake manifolds we have now.

Or have a custom cam made with a touch more intake duration for the underperforming runners. would take a good bit of testing (or more experience than I have) to get it perfect.

YES ... with a few well directed manifold mods the exhaust gas temps can get to be very close most of the time.
Cylinders #4 and #5 are usually the leanest.
