If this was for a small stroker build ? wouldnt the D9 block be a better choice, because of the slightly longer cylinders ?

Well ya learn something everyday ! Never knew that obviously... I had thought from the great Block Summit that all the blocks were pretty much equal....

and just how many have you ever broken, from the hp being to much..........Zero Truth of the matter is that a 2 bolt Block, D0VE or D9TE same hp rating between 750 and 800 and then you have to get either 4 bolt mains or aftermarket block....or have the Main caps Strapped......cuz no Girdle will fix cap Fretting...(walking)

Georgia..... Georgia..... Your on my mind..... Laughing

IMO with 4 bolt caps yes the dove is better, with 2 bolt caps they might as well be the same block. I've seen a couple d9's thick enough for 4.500 to and seen some doves on the thin side, so it's a crap shoot as far a cylinder bores......

Factory bore, no machine work, one hole had some rust and may not clean up at .030
