Cam question Empty Cam question

Post  OldRedFord December 20th 2009, 11:15 am

Ok so I got a cam and lifter kit from Summit. Quite surprised to get it out of the box and there is no spec for valve spring pressures on the cam card nor anything about break in procedure. Plenty of info on installing the cam and lifter preload etc.

Im hoping FRPP M-6513-A50 springs are not too stiff.

I thought all camshafts stated spring requirements. Cam question Icon_question

There are several cams sold without any recomended valve spring requirements. All the FRPP camshafts come readily to mind and there certainly are a bunch of other cams, (expecially those generic grinds stuffed into different boxes), which rely on the customer to find out that information through other avenues.

You are not going to need a whole lot of spring with that cam and that Comp spring someone just recommended looks like a good choice to me. In my opinion you should be fine with about 100lbs seat and about 240lbs open load. It should work fine.
