A 1970 429 with D0VE heads would be a 1970 429 Thunderjet (not Cobra Jet), if it's all original.rick heisler wrote:I AM LOOKING FOR A STOCK CARB FOR MY SONS 1968 429 CJ...it is a 429 with d0ve heads the manifold has 2 small and 2 big ports on top and the holley and spacer gaskets block half of the ports so am hoping to find the right carb
I might be mistaken, but I think a factory iron intake with the spreadbore carb is likely from a 1972 or 1974 engine, depending on which model engine it came from. Must the carb for yur son's engine be of the factory original style? Or will a good replacement carburetor that is well suited for the engine also be acceptable?
Paul
p.s.: The casting date of the intake manifold will be on the top, bear the carb pad, and is alphanumeric, such as "2D16."

Rick,
I just gave a friend a box of carbs the other day and one of the old Thunder Jet carbs was in it. He rebuilds carbs. I will check for you.

If it is a 70 or 71 CJ it may have had a Q-Jet on it. I have seen a couple on ebay recently. A beat up core goes for about $250.00.
