Nick,
If it were mine, I would use a gear retard over the launch retard.. The launch retard pulls the timing out as soon as it sees the 12 volt signal from the trans brake. With some of todays tight converters and running low initial timing it can cause an issue of getting up on the converter..

The best way I have found is to use the gear retard.. Thanks, SJ

I agree Bruno. I didn't know that until I looked at my acquisition from the run. It retards the timing while you are on the two step setting on the line. I no longer use launch retard and use gear retards only. Gear retards are controlled by rpm instead of time. There is no way of determining how much is too much. That is going to be a trial and error deal.

Nick on our N/A 598 powerglide deal, we used 3-4 tenths of a second ramped back in off the launch and it seemed like ours liked 5* pulled out on the leave. Like those guys said it is all trial and error.

So basically for the 1st stage im going to pull 8* and im also going to activate gear 1 to retard an additional 6* at the release of the t/b and then ramp off back to the 8* .........

but then i need it back off the gear retard as soon as possible so the 2nd stage can come in

instaed of doing all that - buy a progressor-pull all the timing out and use the nos controller to add all the power your able to use - you can have a 300 hp pill in your fogger and add what ever % the car can handle per track -

Nick, I totally agree with Steve and Joe. The best pass to date has been with the Gear Retards instead of the Launch Retard. You still need to wire in the blue wire to your Transbrake so that when 12v is applied the sequence is reset. Plot out 1st gear on the Launch Control Retard Curve, and 2nd gear on the Run Retard Curve. I also created a file for each timing setup so it was quick and easy to download to the box, I think I had made about 20 so far. I have to start all over again since my old laptop took a dump, (put them on a CD next time dummy) Msd Digital 7 ? Icon_lol. To make it easy to find which one I wanted I gave the file a name that told me what the settings were, (example: rahn6000@08-1&05-2), timing is all back in at 6000, 8* retard in 1st and 5* for 2nd. Hope this helps.
