motor plate question Empty motor plate question

Post  IcallhimGeorge August 17th 2009, 5:10 pm

Nick, if this isnt the correct catagory please move this thread for me.

If you run a front plate must you also use a mid plate or is it not necessary? The C6 and Np205 are both soft mounted and this truck does see some street time.

If I have to run both plates is there a way to make a TC that was not originally set up for a mid plate work?

Im starting to look in to winter project and I think a motor plate is pretty high on the priority list. Does anyone have pics, or even better a template, of one installed in a 79 F250 4wd?

If youre doing some serious off roading i would put a mid plate in , you also need engine limiters to keep it from moving back and forth under acceleration and braking.

Why stop with the job 1/2 done. If your going to expend the time/effort of installing a front plate, why not finish the job & install the mid plate as well. Very Happy

Depending on who made the converter, sometimes it will work with no mods if a thin (.090" to .120") steel mid plate is used. Sometimes the center pilot will still engage the crank enough, but the converter mounting pads/brackets won't reach the flywheel & will need some washers as shims. And sometimes the pilot doesn't engage enough. Just depends on how the converter was made.

A thicker aluminum mid plate (.250") will need either the old converter modified for the thicker mid plate (longer pilot & moved/spaced mounting pads/brackets) or a new converter built/spaced for the thicker plate.

depending on where you want the weight in it, you dont have to run a mid, very seldome we do both ,but only in full chassies we always install one
