Not trying to nit pick you, but the steel needs to be a minimum of .0240".

In both the SFI 25.4 & 25.5 books there is a reference to a minimum of .035" steel (vs .024") for the "outer portions of the steel floor" if some of the assorted floor bars (1, 6A/6B, 7A/7B, 8A/8B, 9) are bent/angled up for exhaust/muffler clearance. When required the thicker .035" steel outer floor has to be stitch welded to the remaining inner floor, to the bent/angled bars, & to the body rocker panels.

Only problem with this rule is if a 'glass body is used with a 25.4 chassis. It's kinda hard to "stitch weld" A .035" steel outer floor to a fiberglass rocker panel. Laughing

Got to thinking, since inner door panels aren't the "floor" or a "firewall" or a "rear bulkhead" you should be able to get away with using even thinner materials for the door. In fact you should really be able to use what ever you want for the inner door panel since some people don't even bother using one on 'glass doors.

Hey dave was that pg 8 # 17 you seen that on 25.4 ? I thought it was only if the bars angled up? I have to read my book again.

In SFI 25.4 it's page 9, #17. It says ....."if the tubes are angled up or are bent".......

Of course it doesn't really say if they mean .035" is needed if ALL of said bars are bent/angled, or if they mean if ANY number of said bars are bent/angled. Just enough of a gray area for an inspector with a chip on his shoulder to bitch about. Laughing
