I think its A.R.T. where we bought a blank for my brothers car, easier to me just to make one, not have the unsightly extra holes and such.

You can sometimes use a thinner 3/16" (.1875") front aluminum motor plate if it's going to be a fairly narrow width front motor plate combined with a 3/16 or 1/4" thick aluminum mid plate. I would not use a thinner front plate combined with a thin steel mid plate unless the front plate had a really super narrow width.

But it's probably a moot point anyway since most "store bought" front plates these days are 1/4" thick. If I remember correctly Alston was about the only place left still offering a 3/16" front plate.

Motorplates

Post  aram624 on May 28th 2010, 5:21 am

These mounting plates are very popular for all types of street and drag race vehicles, door cars, dragsters and roadsters. A motor plate offers an easy way to mount a different engine than what may have come in the car or truck you are working on. You can even mount a different brand of engine into your vehicle. These plates also work well for street rods, hot rods, custom cars and "Pro-Street" type vehicles.

I'm sure Keith could make you one for a regular timing cover. I'd check with him, A+ craftsmanship and a great guy.

Another one for Keith, had I known about him while I was building my car I'd have his motor plates.

Date with a motor plate

Post  Wheelie58 on May 29th 2010, 5:53 am

As my fellow BBF pals have noted, my motor plates are for a BBF with a Danny Bee.
I have had requests for non-belt drive plates and can easily make one. I need to do it anyway. They are make of .250" 6061T6 aluminum plate 12" X 36".
Just give me a PM with your information and I can make you one.
Since this will be a prototype....and you will be helping me make the first one....it will be provided at a "very attractive" price. The plate should be much less cost than my Danny Bee plate, since there will be less laser time.
I plan to use my standard bolt pattern. that takes in all of the timing cover bolts, even the lowers. Of course, we can make it differently, if needed.
One point that I need to figure out is the round hole that I have seen on others BBF standard motor plates behind the water pump. Is that required to make clearance for a stock water pump back plate that has a "bump" in it?
I also notice that a relief is needed for the fuel pump boss on the stock timing cover.
That is no problem. I have a stock timing cover to work with and can "borrow" a water pump from a local parts store.
Just let me know.
Thanks!
Keith Fulp
