I'm looking at up grading to a dominator carb, what do you guys recommend? 3 circuit metering or 2 circuit.
Gasoline only. I currently use a 1000 cfm 4150 HP Holley. Cheers Colin

3 for most applications.

There's a lot of chatter about which is best for street or strip. Guys get a 3 and do a conversion to make it a 2 circuit with new metering blocks and swear by it. 3's are said to be a bitch to tune for streetability. Usually the issue is excessive richness at cruise. I have a 1250cfm 3 circuit and have no issues cruiising it on the street after a little reading on these forums and simple tuning. When done right, I guess they are better for trans brake cars.

The 3 circuit design has some real advantages over the 2 circuit if calibrated properly and the intermediate circuit is used as intended. The whole idea is to use the transition circuit to cover a hole that is in between the idle circuit and the main when the main is jetted correctly. It can make the carburetor act as though it has a mechanical power valve that makes the mixture about 1 ratio richer but only in transition. Most of the time this circuit is calibrated way too rich and this is where the problems arise.

You have to remember that the Dominator was developed originally as a circle track carburetor and that's why it has a 3 circuit design.

The 3 circuit has more tunability; the 2 circuit will pass more total fuel if you need it.

Well it looks like a 3 circuit should be ok, It's a transbrake car, leaving at 5600 r.p.m.
Thanks guys, cheers Colin.
