Hey guys I've started my sleeper build with keeping the stock 10 holes and stock hood in mind and just wanted to contribute to all the others doing the swap or one similar . my goal is a 10.99 in the 1/4 on motor. i will be updating as i make progress hopefully each saturday..... ENJOY !!!!

Thats a cool build. It will go mids 11s for sure. Might need to change some things to get into the 10s though. Or spray it Laughing

never know may surprise a few people ! LOL...... it just kills me to get on here and 460ford.com and see mustangs with 460's with aluminum heads over greared and stalled stuck in the 11's ! i have a buddy that does a lot of bbf swaps and he says low 11's to high 10's is possible. i've seen low compression smoggers run high to mid 11's with rv cams and stock heads. so yeah i have higher hopes and the tuning ability ! but i will keep you guys posted. Thanks

No im not saying its not possible. Ive been 12.0s with a d0ve headed 466 9.5:1 with a hyd cam, 850, victor, 1 7/8 headers 3.70 gears and my truck is 4200lbs.

well doesn't look like i made much progress but i have been fighting with the steering and headers all day ! also i did get the trans cooler mounted and the lines ran.i did try to crank the engine and found out my brand new factory mini starter is grinding really badly, found out its a MT one ! but here are some pictures !!!

well i got my 3/8 aluminum fuel line run, pump mounted and gas tank dropped. i got drowned in gas and half the garage covered. to beat it all it was old stinky gas and it burned me up ! found out why the old fuel pump didn't work, it was rusted real bad they must have gotten bad gas somewhere. i'm going to run a 3/8 brake line down to the bottom of the tank and leave ot about 1/4" off the bottom, always worked before . well heres a few pictures !

well yesterday i made more progress , i drained all the old gas out of the tank and cleaned the black cover that goes on the bottom, also ran rubber line from the main line to the pump. i am trying to stuff my 6al and multi retard box were the old computer was or it may go under the passenger seat. hopefully i will get my starter back tomorrow so i can get it installed.

Get rid of the front sway bar if your drag racing. You need do some seam welding to the rear end mounting sheet metal, and ditch the factory arms and bushings

yeah front sway bar is gone and i have a buddy that s going to finish doing the seam welds ! i also have some adjustable uppers to put on it !

Hey guys i got the motor started, i do have a few problems though, the real seal is pouring and my trans is leaking out the front somewhere and i have a noise thats kinda odd under 2500 rpms. kinda like a clack thumping hitting sound, me and a few buddy's think its just the header noise seeing as i don't have any exhaust on the car yet ! but the motor sounds very healthy and revs like a small block !

I couldn't beleave how my 460 reved after I built it. Check and make sure you don't have a rocker arm that might be hitting the valve covers.Take a long screwdriver and put it to a valve cover and put it to you ear and make sure you don't hear tapping sound.You might have one trying to hit the baffle in the valve cover.You got it looking good

Sorry but i dont recall seeing on this site or the other one, aluminum headed 460 mustangs stuck in the 11's . Anyway good luck on the build it looks good,you got an idea what its gonna weigh ?

Should get 11's for sure if it will hook. The mph will tell the truth more than the ET if you are traction limited. Keep us updated. Your build is very similar to mine except I have D3's with 9:1 compression. It went 11.81 @ 115 with the hydraulic cam. I haven't been back to the 1/4 since I switched to a solid flat tappet. First the beer bet held me up, and now it is too f&%#_ng hot !!!! Evil or Very Mad

hey nuclearcobra, i meant no disrespect to any one with that comment i have seen a few aluminum headed cars in the mid 11's. your car flys...... my last hatch weighed 2680 with a 302-5spd so if a 460/c6 adds about 300lbs it should be around 3000lbs thats my goal weight !
