Need Help build questions Empty Build combo's

Post  bowsher21 June 25th 2010, 3:20 pm

I just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to assemble the "Build list". This is the kind of information I am looking for when I start my Boss 9 build thiss fall. Until then I have a fresh short block 472" Dry sump with forged probe slight dish pistons and forged Scat rods on a stock y2 crank that is balanced.
I have a set of D0ve heads 2.19/1.76 with intake ports matched to scj intake and minor ex port work. I have a 950cfm Holly to use. Plan on racing on 1/2 mi. to 1 mile ovals.
Question? Would you kind enough to give me a base line for a build using the list of stuff I currently have?
And any guess on HP I might get?
Thank you

Your going to be at 550+hp by my guess. I'm building a 466 with 2.19/1.76 valves in D0VE-C's with pocket porting and a port cleanup. Still stock port size, 750 cfm Holley 4160 series carb and Lunati bracket master II cam. low 9's compression wise so I can run it on pump gas. I'll be making 500+hp, 600+ft-lbs. So what your doing will get more power for sure, What kind of cam are you thinking about?

To get the most potential out of the engine, the intake and exhaust both must be properly ported. Without intake porting it is going to be difficult to get to 500hp. With a good set of heads and proper induction and decent headers, you will go over 550 and maybe more depending on the cam. Cool

Need Help build questions Empty Cam Specs.

Post  bowsher21 July 13th 2010, 7:03 pm

I don't know much about cam selection, but this is what is on it's way here.
NEW COMP CAMS Cam grind # FF 310B-8, part # 34-653-5
gross lift: I-.649/E-.642
duration @ .050: I-270/E-276
lobe separation: 108.0
valve timing @ .020: Intake - 47 btdc open, 83 abdc closed
Exhaust - 85 bbdc open, 49 atdc closed
These specs are for cam installed @ 108.0 intake centerline. So i'm told. How'd I do?

Keep in mind I plan on using this for Road Racing. Kind of like drag racing corner to corner with some 3/4 or more mile long straights.
As for heads. My first set are a hoot. The guy I bought them from never said they were ported with a hatchet. But they did come with 3 bent ex. valves at no extra charge. Working on refund.
I bought a better set off a 9second drag car. 2.19/1.75 should be here soon. I will have them flowed after inspection.
