im building a couple 460's. 1 is for my 73 gts 460 .030 aries pistons, stock rods w/arp bolt, balanced, ported a429 heads, comp 300r solid roller cam, 2 1/8 headers, ported victor, 1050 dominator, c6 trans w/3500 stall, 4.56 gears, 29.5 x 10.5 slicks. drag only very little street use(only the dream cruise) 2nd build is 460 .030 kb pistons, stock rods w/arp bolts, balanced, ported iron cj heads, torker2 intake, comp 280r solid roller cam, 850 holley, crites headers, toploader 4 speed, 4.11 gears. this is going in a 1964 galaxie. street/strip car(mostly street). i'm trying to get in the 11's with my 73 gts(gran torino sport) it weighs about 3800lbs do you think i can get there? maybe low 12's with the galaxie? think its possible? thanks jim

Jim the first thing I would do is swap the stock rods out and put in a good set of H beams be just a little more than having your old rods rebuilt.. but great insurance.....

I'd agree with coug, spend a few $$ on some better rods and let'r fly for both of them.

And on the KB's for the second build are they Forged or hypers? if hypers ditch'em and get some Probe forged one's they are a much better piston for the money.

i have some eagle i-beams from another build. would they be allrite for the drag build? i dont plan on turning more than 6500 rpm's. would i have to rebalance them? i'm gonna have to keep the stock rods for the galaxie build because i'm out of cash. thanks for the suggestions jim. p.s. i'm in redford michigan.

use the I beams for the Street build and get some Hbeams for the Race motor. they are about $300-400 and you may even be able to find a good set used.

You it will need to be balanced

Got my spots reserved just north of 12 mile on Woodward... one for me (either my 1970 Torino GT, or 1979 Bronco) and the other for my father and his 1966 Galaxie 7 Litre (factory 428 4 speed)... cant wait!
