I'm not going to lie. I have never heard of them. Now after reading the factory curb weight and seeing the front end setup I want want for my customer and one for me. Talk about light. ~2000lbs from the factory with a strut type front end with rack and pinion from what I read. Very Happy

That's light, and from the factory Shocked It could be pretty lighter I'm sure.

The new ones or the older 80's ones like Glidden tried in P/S?

The older Escort EXP's would be a cool choice, but kinda hard to find today.

A little Help! - Page 2 Empty 62 Falcon

Post  512Fairlane July 22nd 2010, 11:11 pm

My Dad just finished his 62 Falcon with a 300-6 backed by a Jerico. He decided to go the full 2x3 tube chassis route because of rust in the floor boards. He looked at both Falcons and Mavericks but decided to go with the Falcon because the front tires are farther forward relative to the firewall than a Maverick. The engine will fit in either car with the stock firewall but the Maverick will have more engine hanging out in front of the front tires. He had this motor in an '49 Anglia but it was a handful. He ran 11.40's with it with a stock home ported head, 2 Holley 2 barrels and lots of compression. He has only had the Falcon out once and it ran some low 12's. Its heavier than the Anglia but I think with some tuning it will run high 11's. I'll try to get some pictures on here.

Anglia, it just brings a smile to my face. Very Happy I love them, gotta be careful whit them at high speed thought that's for sure. Actually, you have to be careful all the time with them. I've seen some bad stuff happen with them, it depends on how the wheels are setup on it. Too wide and it'll tip. Sometimes this stuff happens....Sad

no thanks. That 90 inch wheelbase is too short for me. expected mph in the 1/8th is around 135 so I would like 100"+ wheelbase. I have driven an Anglia with a 351c with a g-force trans. It went 9.40 in the 1/4 and I told him I would NEVER drive it again.

A depends moment. Laughing Its probably best if you keep it as a street car OR take the rear fenders off and bring the wheels farther out. Get a 59 anglia 100E then. Cool Laughing

EDIT- never mind, that's 87"! Those are small cars, built smaller so they were cheaper. Well good luck on the capri. Very Happy

anyone know where I can find a 1969-1974 Ford Capri Mk1. I think that will be a winner if we can get our hands on one.[/quote]

Ebay has a pretty clean 73 without a motor or transmission right now.
