Custom Header Price

Post  valleydawg on July 27th 2010, 6:44 pm

What is everyone paying now for a custom made set of headers? Doing nothing but paying the check? Ballpark figure is good. Don’t need to be your headers. Thanks

Tim Murphy at the Fab Shop quoted me $1500 to build a set for my Tbird. His headers are works of art! I hope to get a set someday king

In the $600's for my cougar. But headmen did that and they didn't have the car, they had the dimensions though. Those were the third pair of headers for it and they STILL needed to be hammered and bent to fit. Mad

I was quoted up $2000.00 for some headers to put a Boss 429 in a Torino. And they needed the car for a minimum of 5-7 working days. Stainless Steel

Sorry, but a hammer and bending is not a custom header. Sad

I think that's a good price for those. Super nice headers and proven horsepower makers.

No we got custom headers made. They had to be customized even more because they weren't made too good. They were custom built by the company for our car though.

I've got a chassis guy in N Alabama set to do mine when he puts in the BBF motor plate mounts. He has a flat rate of $700 labor + materials cost. That's for uncoated. I will send them to Nitroplate for the coating.

X2 on Tim @ The Fab Shop. Real nice guy and he does make works of art out of exhaust pipe. I bought the stuff to make my headers from him 2yrs ago, called him this summer when I started putting them together and he remembered selling me the stuff and helped me out quite a bit to get them together right. Cool Definate service after the sale, and as has been said before, PROVEN power.

Curt I don't get what you are saying. Summit called up headmen headers and had them personally bend, weld, fab, and cut headers for our application. You can not get these headers off a shelf at all, they were only made for us, FROM SCRATCH! These were not hammered shelf headers if that is what your thinking.

There's some mis communication here. They were custom built from straight metal pipes and formed into headers. Smile

I'm just saying, every header I have ever had built "custom", did not require a hammer. And, I havent always had dragsters.

Plus, I just busting you chops a little. Smile

Oh, what I meant was that they were in fact custom headers. But they still didn't fit! So we took matters into our own hands (dad did). Smile Don't try to work on a 69 cougar! Laughing
