What's the general consensus on switching to oxygenated VP Q16 vs non-oxygenated? Is there much HP to be gained? I know where I can get a drum cheap from a mud racer who is getting out of the sport. He says he had to jet up several sizes but it made a noticeable difference. Any drag racers that have made the switch out there?

Not really a fair comparison but we made close to a 100 more horsepower with our turbo car.

We made a pass with our old setup and ran 133 mph in the 1/8. Came back and drained all the fuel out of the tank and put in Q16 and changed the jets and went 136 with no other changes.

I have heard some people say they gained between 25 and 50 hp by switching to Q16. We run Q16 all the time now.

Definetly gains to be had, the stuff is amazing on the dyno, I just can't justify running it on the track bracket racing, as it too expensive. but if you need the edge its extra throttle in your tank.

There is a reason that NHRA made it an illegal fuel for their STOCK and SUPER STOCK eliminators.

I've got a fairly new Holley 8896 1050 Dominator. Is there anything special you have to do with it compared to regular fuel? I've heard you don't want to store it in plastic jugs near sunlight and I saw a few posts on here about condensation in the oil. Is that an issue? How many jet sizes do you typically have to go up?

I store mine in metal and plastic jugs with no problems. It has a VERY strong odor and can get to you in a hurry so be careful filling jugs/cell. We were told it would put condensation in the oil but I think our condensation comes from the use of ice water int he block and 50-60 degree inlet temps and it is actually very little or not at all now with the usage of a pretty big vacuum pump. LOL

Ours is EFI so I don't know about jet sizing but we had to add about 15% over C16 BUT we don't use 15% more fuel. The stuff made our setup more efficient. Just a little FYI.

and..it cost a bunch so you guys are right.....not a great choice for bracket racing.

If those metering blocks are the cast units and its a 3 circuit............has been some issues with not being able to get enough jet in the deal......the tubes in the passages for the int circuit restrict the flow in the main wells. It might not be an issue, but if upping the jets gets no results then there may be a concern with this. A good set of billet blocks will fix it.

The fumes are not so bad compared to m5............ Laughing

A friend of mine bought a 55 gallon drum and he doesn't plan to race anymore. I thought I might try some just to experiment with. If its that much more expensive I probably wouldn't use it all the time but I thought if it would get me closer to the 10.0 index I might do some index racing.

Don't let it set in your carb bowls very long periods at a time. The corrosion is fierce.

It's not a good idea to let any style fuel set in a racing carb for long periods of time. Drain and dry for the winter months.

I keep hearing about what this fuel being corrosive. I have been running it for 2 years and never seen any sign of that. I would really like to hear more about what the circumstances are when this happens. If you leave q16 in your bowls for say 2 weeks It will evaporate. Are we sure people are not having condensation issues with cars setting around. Never seen it leave moisture in the oil either. Could those of you that have had these problems elaborate. I am a VP dealer and also Sponsored by Vp and would like to pass along some of these concerns and problems.

If I can help anyone with questions about this or other vp products fell free to contact me. 270-684-1069 work
