Piston ???

Post  JG342 on Thu 12 Aug - 20:51

I have a set of pistons that are for a C head, my question is would they fit any other head. I tried to do a search but didnt find any info.

As in valve reliefs would have to be cut for another valve config ??

I'm guessing its a custom piston. Why not sell them, and get a set that will work?

Curt is on target, meaning that the valve reliefs for most any other head would be in a different place. However, your pistons would almost work with a Pro-Filer #205 head, which is also referred to as a C-460 replacement head. To use with the Pro-Filer heads the intake and exhaust valve pierce points are in the same location, however the valve releifs would have to be machined deeper. The nominal C-460 chamber volume is 70-72 ccs, whereas the nominal Pro-Filer 205 chambr volume is 60-62 ccs. The Pro-Filer chamber is shallower and the seats/valves are .100" closer to the deck surface than the C-460 heads.

Hope this helps,
Uncle Charlie

Actually that is my intention to sell them, I was asked by someone if they would fit anything else besides a C head. So that is why I'm asking. I bought a complete engine that was set up for NOS but I'm going turbo
