what is it

can anyone tell me what the aluminum box is for on the lower rad hose? I am having problems uploading a picture which would make this question a little easier, sorry!

sorry i am having problems posting a pic but in the (460 multi groove pulleys) thread it is in pictures from 89lx coupe. I will get the picture posting right yet!

Haven't seen that particular unit before, but it looks like an engine preheater to me. When installed in a lower hose, convection will carry hot water through the engine. Common in cold climates, sometimes at drag strips. Just my guess.

If it is identical to the one the DFI429 posted....
