Manual Automatic Newb Question

Post  TorinoGT on August 14th 2010, 10:34 pm

Looking for advice, opininions etc, on what to expect or "how" to drive a manual C6 on the street. Is there anything I should know?

Car should be back on the road in a day or two.

Car is a 1970 Torino GT, BF Evans 572, pump gas STREET engine, rollerized C6 w/ reverse pattern manual VB. (and ultimate converter concepts custom torque converter)

Thanks

Shane

If its a full manual you have to shift, its not gonna do it on its own.

I have a good shifter, a winters sidewinder... had a very thick cable (much thicker than B&M or Hurst stuff)...

ill have to make sure I have u joints on hand... and obviously a drive shaft loop sooner than later then!

I don't get the point of the manual vb. I thought it was to make it shift harder, I guess not. I've never had it shift for me when I went all the way to 1st and manually shifted up.

A true *manual* valve body has NO automatic shifting capability. so its not really about shifting hard per se, but because the new engine I have doesnt really make enough vacuum to operate an auto trans, I went full manual.

shift firmness on an auto can be changed via your typical auto valve body with "shift kits"
