Got some goodies today
Got some goodies today. I'm anxious to get started putting this back together. First I got to cut some meat off the top of these pistons. 13.5:1 is a little steep for my build.[img]

I'm curious, how much can be safely cut from those pistons?

I read where I can safely take these down to a flat-top, which should get me around 11.5:1. I'll throw them in my CNC mill at work when the boss is gone.

Might even get those heavy Speed Pros down to a workable weight........

Chop those ole cannonballs down for sure!
A heavy slug will kill a rod fast. A mid 600 gram range is decent.

I can tell you for shure those damn things are heavy. I have a set that I just put in an engine and the piston, rings, and pin weighed 1050 grams.

WHEW!!! I just weighed these, and they are over 1700g combined. Rods are Eagle H-beams @ 840 apiece. Pins are 183 and pistons are 729-731. Where can I take some meat out of the pistons, besides what I mill off of the top? Can I drill around the pin bosses?
