Crank advice needed Empty Crank advice needed

Post  nuclearcobra September 13th 2010, 12:25 pm

this is about a stock crank from a dive block ,the machine shop called and said it has small cracks that run width wise on the rod journal and he said to some that doesn't bother them as long as they aren't running around the journal. He said he would trust it in a street car but not a race car but its my call on this one. What do you guys think ?

Why take that chance? Get a different one, I would worry about it breaking every second it is running knowing about the crack.

I'd get a new one, if it breaks it destroys all your other parts too.

Thats my opinion also to chuck it and get a diffrent one but it made me ask when he said he's got customers that aren't worried about those type of cracks as long as they don't run around the journal,so i thought i'd ask here first thinking maybe he's right those cracks are no big deal on that type of crank the way they were running but then again he said he wouldn't trust it in a race engine either, anyway i have one more i can take him today thanks for the replys.
