Disk brake 9" rearend

Post  tiger on September 15th 2010, 7:53 am

I have a whole pile of 9" housings out of Lincoln Mark's, Thunderbirds, are they worth anything?

They are disk brake rearends with 28 spline axles.

yes they worth something, check the other mustang clubs (sites) a lot of guys are looking for them, put spring pads on them and they go right in the early mustangs for disk brake conversions. Smile

The Mark and Early Tbird stuff (Big Bearing) is to wide for early mustangs, I believe you are refering to the Versalles rears? with the small bearing 9"???

Will they fit a 1970 f-100 9" rear end , I have the front spindles out of a 78 lincoln Mark V . Trying to get the same bolt pattern all the way around and the disk brakes on the rear would be a plus ???????

I don't want to "rain on your parade", but I think you'll find that the caliper mounts on those big Lincoln rears are integral / welded to the bearing ends (at least they were on the Mark VIII parts car I had). So, if you want to put them on the 9" in your pick up - you're in for a lot of work fabricating caliper mounts. I had the same thoughts for the disc brakes, after looking at what I was in for, I changed course and the big Lincoln rear went to the junk yard! That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!
