Anybody need any weeds burned?
I can handle it if you need to get rid of the pesky trackside weeds.

Got my car back from the chassis shop. Whole list of stuff done. Headers included. I would have liked them under the car, but no way the 4.5" collectors would fit without dropping the ground clearance to about 1.5". Like this I have 3.5" and it will help get the alky fumes out from under it.
More pics to come.

Gonna be hard to keep the car clean. Especially in the dirt or gravel. Before you get them coated you might want to see if he can turn them out through the fenders. On another note it should deaden the sound very well though. JMO, Don't take it the wrong way, just that I have seen first hand how clean you kept the dragster and I don't think your gonna like the dirt and dust on and under the car.

Thanks guys,
Took some more pics today. See this thread:

Travis,
We considered turning and goign through the fender, but the entire factory A pillar is behind that little bit of fender. A lot of hassle and might weaken the car. I may see if I can find some 90° turnouts. Cut the collector 2-3" up and weld the 90°. Problem is finding a 4.5 90° with a tight radius. Lot's of 4 and then 5". All the 4.5" 90's I have found so far have like and 8" radius and are too big. I realize it will kick up dust, but luckily 90% of my racing is at my home track which has the entire pits paved.

I don't think I've ever seen a pipe that dia with less than a 8" radius. 4.5" is not a very common deal at all, once you hit 4" the diameters tend to go in whole inches. I waited for over 3 months for a common 4" exhaust pipe for my sprayer. You might try to find a pipefitter that works with stainless steel, sometimes they have some off the wall stuff with small radius bends.

Re: Anybody need any weeds burned?
David,
I would highly recommend that you put some turnouts or back a little on it. If you can find a 5" turnout with the bend radius that you want, you could cut a section out of it and weld it back together. The circumference of the 5" tubing would be (3.14x5.0") or 15.7" and what you want is 4.5" diameter so that would be (3.14x4.5") or 14.13", so you would need to cut a sliver of about 1.5" and then weld the seam back up. You could use some large hose clamps to pull it the seam back together and keep it round.

Thanks guys.
I talked with Tim Murphy at the The Fab Shop Headers today.

Tim is going to make me a set of slip on turnouts. I'll cut the collector a little shorter and hopefully the low point will still be around 3.5"

Dave,
Just an idea, See if Tim can do a round 4.5" to oval 4.5 outlet. This would probably give you a little more ground clearance judging by your pictures Dave. Everything looks good on the car including the headers, Just don't see you being happy with the dust and dirt blowing all over your nice car.
