Are there different harmonic balancers for 429/460

Post  GRC on November 10th 2010, 1:17 pm

Does the 429/460 have only one balancer available? Or is there a 3 and 4 bolt like the small block. If so when were each used?

The very old 429 engines and maybe also the 460 had a balancer with belt grooves cut into it's circumference. It was made similar to a 300 6 cylinder balancer in that way. The spacer used behind it is also unique. After about 1970 they changed and I think that they are all the same.

Doesn't the Ford racing piece have two patterns so that it can also be used on an FE engine?
