Which intake for a claimer class Empty Which intake for a claimer class

Post  Bigblockfox November 30th 2010, 10:53 am

Im building another fox for a class here called cheap street. Its a claimer class in which the top six can buy your motor for $1000 intake to pan. Im building a 460 its was free so im using the forged dish pistons that was in it and stock rods and crank. I have some d3 heads im porting via scottys website and have a comp cam. My question is what intake would be the best for this. Im going to spray this motor but dont want to buy a victor and risk loosing it.

Buy the least expensive single plane you can get your hands on ... I would say a Torquer II would be it.

cam is a hyd .276.284 mid .550 lift ( If I remember right). The gear will be a 3.73 stock converter and let it eat. This is a 1/8 mile class.

An Edelbrock RPM would work well if your leaving a stock convertor behind the motor.

I'd look at getting an inexpensive reworked convertor for the application, it will mean a decent amount of ET reduction. Then consider the single plane like Randy is suggesting.

If they can't claim your converter, it might help to spend some money there.

Torker II or even an old Offy port O sonic...........what ever is cheap.

And no the converter is not part of the deal.

I pondered running this class with the turd and the 550 5.0 deal and a huge tune in a plate.....but there is the no alky or motor/mid plate rule so piss on um.............

The MWSC guys always seem to have some chickenshit rule that keeps the HeRo from takin' the suckers money.......... Razz

Because of the engine claiming rule, work a LOT on getting the CAR and DRIVE TRAIN right ... that is where the most ET will be gotten.

When you're real fast you gotta presume that your engine WILL be claimed by someone who thinks the engine is the ET maker.

Maybe a top shot(goes on aircleaner stud under the lid) nitrous kit if you can find one. You said they could buy it intake to pan right?I ran one in a 340/4spd duster I used to go cause trouble in,wasn't crazy or anything but it worked. Run some kind of factory single or dual snorkel air cleaner and you have all kinds of places to hide the plumbing. I'm sure there's other ways to skin this too, scan and post or link the rules here if you get a chance.
Good luck,
Jr.
