I have my new cam, what do you guys think?
Dur @ .050" 254.2/261.2, Lift .615"int/ .635"ex on a 109.2 lobe sep..
Solid flat tappet cam.
This cam is going to replace the relatively small hydraulic vacuum cam (dur@ .050 230/230, .549/.571 lift, 114 lobe sep) that I have been running in the truck.
For you guys who don't know my combo
472ci, flat top, 0 decked
ported big valve dove heads
stealth 8012 intake port matched to the heads
Biggs 850 holley carb with 2" open spacer.
home built 2" primary/3 1/2" collector equal length headers
The best 1/4 mile time with the old cam was 12.17 seconds @ 97mph.
Any ideas on what differences I can expect on the track?
I'm hoping to run in a 12.00 1/4 mile and a 7.50 1/8 mile index class this year.
Will this new cam get me there?

I think its gonna be a little better than 12'0 years ago with my mustang 2 i swapped out a comp 292 magnum flat hyd cam that was 244@.050 duration and 534 lift for a comp 306 magnum flat solid that was 260@.050 and 592 lift and went from 12.54 to 11.94 at its best with only a cam change

I think you are going to blow the doors off of the 12.0 class.

That should be a much noticed improvement! What does the truck weigh, and what gears?

Thanks guys, I hope your all right.
Tom the truck weighs right around 4000lbs and I have a 4.10 gear with 29.5x10.50 hoosier slicks.
It's a big change from the 4x4 with 38.5 boggers it use to be.
Last summer I got more seat time on the 1/4 mile than I did the last 4 or 5 years in the mud.
Had a blast.
