lots of money, a good chassis to handle that 1000 hp you seek....but Lem Evans and his Crew can build you it and be naturally aspirated to boot

I'm thinking there are a couple of P-51 deals that would be sufficient, and possibly cheaper to boot. They are going to be just under 1000hp, but not by much. Either way, you are going to need a good chassis. Twisted Evil

There is nothing costs efficient about 1000 hp. You have to have above average parts just to support it. Chassis, trans, convertor, rear end, plus a detailed maintenance schedule.

If starting with a clean sheet of paper, I'd use an "A" head and an "A" block and go 588 cubic inched. A 1,000 horsepower NA is easily attainable with some extra to boot.

A P-51 headed engine would strain to get there and anything else would be a lot more money.

I wouldn't say the P51 deal would have to strain, but the A headed deal would be easier though.....unless the chassis would not permit the larger size of the A heads.

Good block and rotating assy, oil pan, valvetrain, etc etc is a must either way you go.

I already have the Chassis.

Post  Trentrent on February 19th 2011, 1:35 pm

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replies,

While I appreciate all the concern about my chassis.. I am already running an 86 Tbird, back halved, 25.3, 4 Link chassis with a narrowed 9" running 14 x 32" and a Glide. It currently runs 8.40's with a Procharged 427W. I understand what it takes to go 8.40. I am thinking of changing directions and going to an N/A BBF and am contemplating my options both financial and otherwise. It is for this reason I specifially asked what the most cost effective combination would be to get me a 1000hp and back to the low 8's in a naturally apirarated BBF. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Trent

Trent,

My combo is just about what you are looking for. I also have an 86 T-bird. Mine is a 25.4, ladder bars and struts. I'm building a A head 598, NA, injected on methanol. The engine should be right up your alley. We are looking at about the same deal except mine will be 99% 1/8 mile. PM with any questions or give me a call anytime. 256 390-7252

I'm having a 588 pump gas build being built in KY. It has A460 block and heads. From what I saw with seths 557 pump gas deal, I am hoping for 900 horse. I assume with more comp and stuff 1000 would be right there. I should have around 16,000 in mine or so

Trent, hope you didn't take that the wrong way. A lot of guys come on here that really don't understand just what it really takes to have a vehicle that makes that kind of power. No disrespect, just have to feel out where you're coming from. You came to the right plae to get the info you are looking for. Good luk with it.
