Need information 351 modified to 429 swap
First some information on the truck. It's a 1979 f150 c6 np205 transfer case dana 44 front and 9 inch rear with 3.55 gears. I was told that the 429 would bolt right into the factory motor mounts and bell housing. But i'm not sure that it will anyone out there have any experience doing this swap?. If so what motor mounts should i be looking for and what all needs to be done to fit the motor in the truck?. Will it have good acceleration and power once its in with the 3.55 gears or should i do a swap?. Your info is greatly appreciated.

Yes it will bolt up to the transmission, but the 351 motor mounts will not work. The frame stands are usable, but require swap mounts from Hooker or L&L. Pretty easy swap to do really. You will need to relocate the accessories, and the best way is to get a serpentine setup from a 90's F250/350.

So i can't just run with the factory belt setup on the motor?. Or do the new motor mounts make the motor sit more towards the front of the engine compartment?.

The factory brackets put the alternator low on the drivers side and it runs into the frame. The P/S pump might work out ok, but the serpentine system is so clean and easy, and can be had real cheap.

Yeah this is kind of a low budget build for right now. I was thinking about maybe using my brackets off of the 351 but i don't know if this will work or not.

Re: Need information 351 modified to 429 swap
There have been some guys make their own brackets for this swap with varied success. I paid less than $100 for a serpentine set that I bought a while ago. The exhaust is the only other hurdle to cross, and a good set of headers are well worth the expense. The factory exhaust manifolds are a pain in the butt to get sealed up, and you may have to notch the frame some for the proper clearance. It will be worth it when you are done though, the old 429's are some good running engines.

I know mine has a lot of power. When i bought the motor it was in a rusted out 2wd 78 f150 with a welded up 9 inch rear end. Long story short i did a quarter mile burnout posi the whole way let off because it was starting to heat up lol.
