I don't run a thermostat anymore. Pump built up pressure when the thermostat was closed. Coolant leaked into the motor past the intake gaskets in the corners. If the thermostat had a small hole drilled in it you might be OK.

Mike I don't run one for the reason when I pull back to the pit when I shut my engine off I leave the pump and fan running to cool it down for the next pass.

That's want I do too. I have sensors on the fan and pump. Park the truck and let it circulate to cool down.

I run the blue Moroso restrictor in mine....I can put it back on the peg from 180* in about 8 minutes.

We have never ran one and never will most likely. Use to bracket race the maverick in multiple classes every weekend so there were plently of times that the car never saw the pits, made a pass returned and got back in line for another class, and never had an overheating problem and that was with a factory pump with the moroso electric drive on it.

Now we run our intercooler water through the intake directly into the water jackets. The thermostat housing has a flat piece of aluminum with our temp sensor in it now. Rule 3700 moves lots of 60 degree water Cool
