hey i just wanted to say thanks to everyone that replied to dougs (ThndrChkn) post about my engine mystery. After changing everything from valve springs to fuel system to ignition to carbs..... i changed the cam. i just threw my old 280 comp in it. kinda small for a 521 but lots o low end. anyway i thank you all and frank your cam idea was right on. weird how an engine can have a 500 rpm dead zone from a cam. but thanks for all your help everyone.

that problem drove me half nuts trying to figure out ! and it even took more convincing for crane cams to redesign the cam ,they did and problem solved !!
