how to adjust valves on stock 460
When I replace the seals - what's the best way to adjust the valves? The way I remember is with the engine running, back off till they tick, then tigthten 3/4 turn..

Typical stock 460's do not have adjustable valve trains, just torque the rocker to the specified torque.
Or you have a early one with Rail / Cast Rockers, CJ / SCJ or PI Engine?
Or do you have an engine that has been converted to an adjustable valve train with studs and guide plates?

if you ever are working on adjustable rockers the process you described is a terrible way of adjusting. With engine not running, tighten nut till you get zero lash and then give 1/2 turn (only on adjustable hydraulic lifters) while following firing order

I have the factory manuals and double-checked what they said - basically it's just torque the bollts to 18 - 22 ft lbs.
The detail in the manuals is crazy detail! I wish they'd put stuff like that out for today's cars...
