Thanks Lem! Off topic, but I actually did that on the advice of an Engineer friend at work. He showed me a photo from an electron microscope that was a cross section on a piece of cast aluminum. It looked like a mountain range magnified that big. He said this is were cracks would start under enough load. Smooth out the peaks and valleys and it will be less prone to cracking. Of coarse he said do the entire block Shocked , maybe on the next one.

Neither have I, but you know what they say, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Plus it aids in oil drain back Wink .
