comp cam stud girdle on A429 heads

Is there a secret to putting comp stud girdles on A429 heads. I tried doing the intake first like comp says and the exh. doesnt line up. After tring many ways I just started it onto the exh. then started the intake but it would not just slide on I had to gently tap it on with a small rubber mallet.
Also I removed the inner springs for break in, do I need to run the girdle during break in?

no they don't need to be installed for breakin. Some of the A429 heads (early/late) take a different girdle,depending on which you have.

Yes

onehead is 35273 and the other is 35134. Stud girdle is comp cams #4034.

I believe that you've got a couple of the early heads with the "odd ball" valve angles, if so - the Comp girdles will not fit. Give Jomar a call, give them those serial numbers, and they will set you up with girdles for your application. Also, be aware that if you use a cam with considerable lift, you will likely have a valve to valve interference issue. The simple solution to that is to turn the intake valves down about .050 in diameter. I'm sure that others far more knowledgeable than me will chime in.

So did all A429's start out with 3 in the serial number? Anybody interested in a set of brand new comp cams stud girdles?
