Rick, I'm needing a manual steering box and pitman from the 80's ranger or f100/150. Oh and I have a buddy with a mark 8 that is parked next to his shop. Haven't asked what's up with it but if it's for sale cheap I'll pass it along.

I'm going to hunt down a ranger steering box as one of my winter projects.
Hey guy's. I scrap alot of cars/trucks during the year so if any of you need anything from one just let me know what you need. Most of the small parts I leave on the truck so it wont cost me much to take it off for you.The price will make you happy and you can bet on that. Is there a certain year for the Ranger steering box?

I had 2 matching 8's last summer Mike. Seems nobody was interested so I scrapped them both.

Boxed and gusseted
Ok, with the suggestions earlier, I decided to add some gussets and additional supports. We will be setting the bed and cab on tomorrow evening. Then just wait for the roll cage kit to show up.
Re: 1995 F150 pro Street project thread
Set the body on last night. Just waiting on the roll cage to show up.
Re: 1995 F150 pro Street project thread
Still have more bed to remove but wanted to get the biggest chunk out before setting it on the frame..
Re: 1995 F150 pro Street project thread
For a low stance without killing a bunch of suspension travel you could cut out both the cab & bed floors, move them higher up in the body, and set the body it's self lower over the chassis (aka channeling) so the truck will look lower without actually giving up a ton of suspension travel.

that is what I did on my ranger after dropping the suspension alittle I dropped the cab on the frame 2'' and set everything to the cab

Cages are a fun part of the build. They frustrate the heck out of you trying to get it all to match up and look good, but they are very satisfying to see when they are done. Good luck bud.

By the amount of tubes there it certainly looks like he did.

Yes, I went with the 12pt. kit. I'll be starting on it after spring break. Have a kid wanting to help on the project now, so it will be nice to have some help. I think I'm gonna need extra hands to get it set in.
Re: 1995 F150 pro Street project thread
It certainly is nice to have an extra hand while installing a cage. My 5yo daughter helped me do the cage on my Mustang. Unfortunately she is more into racing than my son at this point but I love her being involved regardless!

I have already lost enough hair. Maybe I'd better wear a helmet or something to keep me from pulling out the rest.
Re: 1995 F150 pro Street project thread
Looks like it's coming along nicely Alan... The cage isn't too bad to install, I did mine by myself in a weekend... Mine was from Art Morrison, and they messed up on their A-Pillar bars because they didn't fit very good at all... They told me they just guessed at the angles because they never had a good model to go off of... They gave me a little break on the price because I tacked theirs in, and refined the angles and sent them pics with the right angles, & then they sent the correct bars... Guess you could say they used the Banana as a tool to get their kit finished up...
When I did mine, you could tell I hadn't welded in awhile, as there was major improvement from start to finish...

Re: 1995 F150 pro Street project thread
Hardest part is gonna be cutting holes in a perfectly good floor. I had the same problem when I cut that big section out of the bed floor, but now that it has a hole in it, the rest is easy lol
Roll Cage progress
Making progress on the ' Cage. It is going slow because I am measuring, re measuring, the cut, then file fit etc.
A little more cage progress
Still trying to figure out how to steer with those posts in the way..
Also took a little time to install the manual steer box after bead blasting it and prime and paint.

Just lean your seat to the right, and those bars won't bother you at all.

A Long time coming...
Seems like the cage took forever, but since it warmed up, I've been busy outside. We finally got to spend some quality time in the shop today and the cage is basically done. Just have to weld the door bars in when I get some more gas for the welder. Then its time to paint the cage and start on on the seat and steering, then the motor.
