Need a Transmission Rebuilder !!!

Any of you Guy's on here recommend a Good Transmission rebuilder in the Southeast area ??? C-6

I`ve heard Cooks racing in SC does a good job on c6s. I just do my own.

I like to build my own (I'm in Douglas, just north of ya), but if you want a professionally built trans nearby to us, I think I'd go to Jacksonville Florida and hit up Turbo action (makers of the Cheetah Shifter).

For parts, I normally just get some from Jay at Broader Performance and do the work in my shop.

I see in your post below you have a trans .specalties convertor .Why dont you check them out for a c6? Deep Roots there can probably do a good job on a c6 too.C6s arent that hard to build .With the right clutch drums and a good band and valve body they are durable .Those kits broader performance sells are high in my opinion .You do get some info from him that is useful but his prices are high on clutchs and plates .I do recomend his high gear clutch drum the one that holds five clutchs and has holes drilled into it .If I wasnt so far away (Middle Ga.) I would help you with this .Good luck and if you need help just ask.Doug

Yeah those parts are a lil high. It's helpful if you don't know everything to get.

I don't mind traveling for Good work and one that will hold up. Godley transmissions out of Moultrie did my last one it lasted 1 year and 8 months of that year it had the engine out of truck getting rebuilt.

Wish I could build my own . Engines not a problem but transmissions Big Problem !! I will check them out .

Godley is a chevy man, I haven't herd very many fords holding up unless it behind a stock engine from them

he has built a couple fords for one of my uncles that didnt hold up to good under some power but has built his chevy trans that held up great.I have known of his about all my life and have helped build his pace trailer he had or might still have he used for transmissions repair and things at the track.

Maybe that Godley fellow just needs some guidance .The old three speed autos are all similar .If you got some parts from Broader with some info on building a c6 he might do a better job .Like I said before you need that high gear clutch drum from broader that holds five clutchs .A forward drum that holds five .A good band ( still like the old style rigid band )And an approiate valve body .I imagine Broader is the one for that .Where I live there is a big transmisson parts house they sell to the public .And their prices are the same as if you are a shop .And I have had more bad luck than good with that sonnax r servo .If you cant find a local guy I will try to help you out.If yo ugo back a few pages you will find my thread on a c6 build of my 67 comet .Whatever you decide to do get your truck fixed and go racing life is to short to miss out on much fun !!!Doug

Owner/builders name is Chris

He frequents the Lightning forums (user name is Blower Slut) and has done several high hp builds

His specialty is E4OD's & 4R100's,........but a C-6 is basicly the same thing minus the electronics & overdrive.

Who ever you get to build your trans make sure it has one of Frank Merkl VB's and my second choice of VB is one from Jay at Broader performance. Both make a great vb in my opinion. Just my 2 cents!
