I saw a video once where Bob wrecked pretty badly and the first thing he did was get out of the car and put his jacket over the induction system on the motor. Lol

You think he was secretive? Lol

I use to watch Diamond P sports every week back in the day. Evans tried to get a comment from Warren Johnson after Glidden had beaten him in the finals. All Warren would say was " NHRA needs to inspect that Ford, because no man can be that lucky". I had too chuckle.Very Happy

Glidden is the reason I have owned nothing but Fords my entire life. Met him several times in Gainesville. He is the real deal. Extremely personable man, the whole family is. Glidden's knowledge of Ford engines is only rivaled by Jon Kaase. They are both hero's of mine.

I remember seeing an article in a magazine about Glidden and he was working on the engines on the floor, and when asked about why he didn't use engine stands he replied that hanging the engine off of one ruined the ring seal on the back cylinders because the engine stand would pull the back cylinders out of round!!! I also remember when he sold all of his motors he wanted a million apiece and everyone laughed. He really was ahead of his time. Pro stock today is so boring. I loved it back in the day when they actually ran an engine with parts anyone could buy.

I got to be a 'hang around and clean the clutch plates kid' for that car at the '85 Winternationals. Frank Iaconio was driving. He was a friend of my boss at the time, Chris Kaufmann. It was awesome being on the line for all the Pro qualifying

Man that Glidden EXP was wicked, that big ass engine in that tiny little car. Twisted Evil
They showed up with the EXP for a match race (against RMS IIRC) at Texas Raceway back in the early 80's. You didn't really get a true sense of the car's size from the magazine pics, you had to see it in person.
