Re: 2013 EMC Oakley / Freelander 572 Build
That's awesome.
You keeping the juice roller in it?
Wondering why you bushed the lifter bores with those lifters?
How did they do with valve float or is it not an issue with these new morel race lifters? What about the dreaded valve train geometry issues?

Had to open the bores up anyway, the bushings are just a nice feature.windsor wrote:That's awesome.

Yes I intend to run the Girly Juice cam and see how it does. After tearing the motor down, I didn't notice any wear like previous EMC valve train stuff.
We where hitting 7200-7300 on the high side thru the pulls, no indication of float noticed. No indication of float on tear down either. And with the hp peaking at 6300-6400 not a whole lot of reason to pull it past 7000

I'm super stoked about your results. I've always wanted to go HR since I had good luck with them in SBFs. These new lifters seem like the key since solid rollers can be hard pressed in my intended use. Drag Week running no more than 6500 in a 620 w/ small valve a460 heads.dfree383 wrote:Had to open the bores up anyway, the bushings are just a nice feature.windsor wrote:That's awesome.

1] The lifters were/are important & they are some kind of fine...albeit expensive. I would not consider them to be "the key" but, an important piece of the puzzle.
2] In my opinion the main reason a typical hyd. roller package is easy on lifters is that 'they' have a VERY girly valve spring in the equation.
Daves springs are not 'girly' hence the happy at 7,300 rpm thing.
3] I do not have a dog or let alone a dog in the solid Vs. hyd. roller debate but, I do not want anyone to assume too much.

Re: 2013 EMC Oakley / Freelander 572 Build
The springs are not girly..... But they aren't the big stud stuff used on the big drag race solid rollers either. I'm thinking a realistic 6500 rpm and good parts and a correct lobe a hyd roller should last just fine in a hot street build and provide some great power.Lem Evans wrote:windsor wrote:I'm super stoked about your results. Why did I know I'd be sorry for posting in one of these chickenshit hyd. roller threads
In closing....wtf does "big stud stuff" mean?

Re: 2013 EMC Oakley / Freelander 572 Build
Big double and tripple stuff those ones that are over 800# and alot of times over 1000#...... The "semi stud stuff" we have in this motor is leaning more towards something you can get away with in occasional street driver, But I still wouldn't want to use the stuff for a daily driver or something you'd expect to last forever.Lem Evans wrote: In closing....wtf does "big stud stuff" mean?

The cars not street legal..... I'm not sure I'd want to drive it (the car) that far any way..... 4 link, manual steering and brakes, no heater, no exhaust and a jungle gym can get miserable.quick 52 wrote:Put it in the Mustang and schedule a week off for Sept. next year for Drag week
But I would entertain some one wanting to put a car together with it and me riding along.
