New piston suggestions and valves Empty New piston suggestions and valves

I'm having my bottom end balanced this winter and I want to switch from Hyper to forged pistons. Right now I have KB single valve relief flat tops the D2PI heads that cc'd at 91 giving me about 10:1 compression. D1 block bored .040 over and it will likely need to go .060 over as he just honed it last time with a 2YABC crank and forged eagle H-beams. My question is: Should I or can I get "pop up" pistons to gain some more compression while I'm in there? Right now I'm using a 50/50 mix of 91 octane and AV gas. If I'm going to spend the money for new slugs I might as well maximize the bang for my buck.Very Happy

I'm also going to do some mild head porting and put in SS valves....Should I go with stock or under cut stems?

Since you ask and it's a drag race only ride, I'd compress it up! I like undercut stems or smaller stems and stainless valves will be fine given engine speed doesn't spend much time above 7000 rpm.

Just my opinion,
Dave.

In the best air of the season I was hitting the 6400 pill right at the stripe. That was with the new 3.89 gears. I was hitting the 6600 pill in July with the 4.11's in horrible air. I swapped the gears to bring my stripe rpm closer to my peak hp on the dyno - which was 5600rpm. I hit the stripe at 6000 now in bad air. I had my best 60ft ever with the 3.89's two weeks ago at the final race of the season, a 1.50 on a cold track.

I'm not finding much in forged dome pistons for a stock D2PI head deal with a stock 3.85 stroke....Question Anyone here know of any?

I believe cars by carl had some batches of stock stroke dome piston stuff made... otherwise there's the Trw L2443's? They have a large dome but are heavy.. they have been around forever... good luck
