Yep..... I consulted with the witch doctor and a little voodoo magic is being channeled for it.
We are looking at a 20% under drive for 7-8 pounds of boost and is is a purely street driven application

That is a very nice intake. Could you give some more info about it. Did not know they still had one for 6-71's and 302 4v head blower conversion's AKA Blown Boss. I'm sure you calculated your under drive ratio and all, to you appliciation. The 20% just struck me as a high underdrive percentage. Are the Blades Teflon tipped? I was running 7% (not 100% positive on this number, seems like Small block was 9% ) underdrive on my 6-71, which was Weiands BBC ( Jeg's sent me the wrong Cogs) set up on a 355cid, and it put out 10lbs of boost. When I flipped the pulley's it produced 15 Psi in overdrive. This was with a 112 degree Lobe seperation mech. roller 241/251 at .050" lift .570-.590 lift. With this cam it had no problem hitting 7000 rpm quickly. I was supprised at how smoth the cam idled with the Huffer, as when I had it ground I was expecting a little more lope at idle. The heads where poor at 287cfm intake 183cfm exhaust. I did have about 50 more cubes though, which makes alot of difference, as do other variables. Anyway that's a killer look looking setup your building.dfree383 wrote:Here's the start...... Got a kit coming from Dyers, this should be a blast!

Dave, was the F cam preferred? Over the years I've always read a general distaste for the "alphabet" cams in the 302. Just wondering

They work fine for the goals of this project. They are old and better stuff does exist, but they do work fine and last

The intake is an offy tunnel ram base with a blower top that's installed by Dyers

Pure and simple. Weight and cost. Back before turbos and cent. blowers, it was nitrous or the big huffers. The big -71 blowers are big, heavy, generate lots of heat as well as power and are expensive. Nitrous was a lot cheaper. Now with the advent of turbos and Prochargers, Paxtons, Vortechs, etc... We have a lot more options. We have seen some developments with nitrous use and delivery. Big blowers are really old school. They are very cool looking and work well but for the money, you can do a procharger or a turbo set up and make more power all under hood for a lot less weight/heat. I have a nitrous car, BDS blower car and want to build a turbo/cent. 600" engine for my T'bird. I like all three.
What's your flavor?

About twenty years ago I was at BDS and they had a few engines from every family in the showroom. They had a Boss302 with a real low profile intake 671 and their electronic bugcatcher hat . Best looking engine in the room!

Bad ass!
I have something similar in the works. BBF with a 671 at very low boost. More for the look/sound than anything. I really dig the old school hot rod looks.
