gear swap yields nothing Empty gear swap yields nothing

could'nt help but change something else after the converter swap got me a tenth a few weeks ago so i went from 4.86 gear to 4.30.i had shift light on in 3rd gear longer than i like & had the gears to try so what the hell.60' went from 1.26 to 1.27,mph change was less than 1mph,and et didnt change,5.81/117mph.i thought with the gear swap maybe i could leave on the trans/b but still getting a lot of air off the foot brake.tried goen up with shift rpm from 6500 to 7000 but only got a half mph more & same et. the big surprise was the shift light still comes on in 3rd gear, almost like i didnt change anything.i did notice the converter goen a little higher on the footbrake. a new converter & glide will be the next thing i try so i'll post what happens with it,which will be next year when the track opens.i know a lot of you have been through this already so what kind of gain, if any,can i expect with with the glide over the c4? Question

The taller gear loads the converter harder as you noticed, Small gear changes like this are more to tune rpm etc.

Put the Glide in alone with a good converter and prepare to go faster.............. Cool

Impressve..

Kind of like to see the 60 foot times and or all of the times going down the track. You mentioned a new converter but not the stall? What is the tire size your running?

I use a 3.27 gear and run 109 Mph and low 6's in the 1/8 mile.. I plan on putting in 3.73's this week and find your post interesting..

Thanks!

60'-1.27,330'-3.74,5.81 et. 117.86mph the converter i used was a 10" from one of my older 466 builds, had'nt ran it in 10yr's.hard to say what the stall realy is cuz it's geting higher every pass.the last pass with 4.30 gear it went 26-2800 on footbrake, before only 22-2400.the converter is the issue, the 10" picked me up a 10th in the 60' with 4.86 gears.4.30s loaded the converter harder but it's just not taken it too well.LOL.8" i've ran which was built for this setup was just too loose,1.34-60'/5.90 et's.turning a lot more rpm.526 ci,a heads,c4,4.30 gears[soon to be 4.86's again for the glide!]15x33 m/t.this is a 2500# door car that should be runnen better numbers than it has so far,it's maken alot of power, just aint getten to the ground with it.we'll see if a glide helps out any next year.good luck with your gear swap, let us know how it goes.
