Im in the market for some adjustable lower arms. Im wondering about the offsets but they recommend a wish bone. What could happen if one is not used?
Thanks

First of all, who is "they"? 2nd, I assume you mean a SS small tire deal correct?

On SS cars, IMO wishbones are band aids for other problems and are simply not needed, especially on a fox body triangulated 4 link. People will argue that they add stability at high speeds. This tells me that they have other problems in their suspension lol

offsets are used for clearance. we use heims on each end and use spacers for placement on the body side and on the housing side we move the mounts on most cars and use a different bracket which doesn't require much as far as spacing is concerned.

don't see a need for a wishbone on a fox suspension.

offset lower control arm Empty Wolfe offset Single Adjustable Lower Control Arm

I'm building a car with the Wolfe offset LCA and Semi Stock adjustable upper mount. The spring pad is asymmetrical meaning that the spring is offset to the inside to maximize tire clearance. This also means that the arm would rotate if it had heims on both ends, but it is fixed at the housing. The triangulated four link from the factory (GM or Ford) center the rear end by design. When we move the LCA inward to be straight front to rear and add double adjustable rod ends (heim joints) for the UCA and LCA the rear end has a lot more lateral movement requiring some kind of locating device; Watts Link, Panard bar, Wishbone.

The first pictures shows the Wolfe LCA in place with a stock 8.8 rear end and brackets. The tire is a 325/50 Hoosier Drag Radial on a 15x10 6.5" backspaced wheel. I'm in the process of mini-tubbing the car as you can see. The new narrower 9" housing will have new longer adjustable LCA mounts that will still have an angle but lesser than factory. The second picture shows the offset that chassis side mount spacers have along with the Wolfe reinforcing plate. You can also see the spring which is at about a 1" offset angle in photo. The last pictures shows the Wolfe offset LCA compared to the stock parts. It uses a coil over style spring, also to save space. These are 10" QA1 375# springs. If that sounds high remember they are on the LCA not behind the rear housing as a typical coil over setup is located.

Team Z, TRZ and Wolfe are all good products, just be sure that the complete combination does what you want it to do. My car is a bastardized street car built primarily for Hot Rod Drag Week and True Street events so it doesn't necessarily fit the rules for conventional classes.
