msd 8580 shaft size

is the msd 8580 distributor have the same size shaft as a stock dizzy? really just need to know if the bronze gear we have on the stock dizzy will fit the msd dizzy

The MSD 8580 distributor has a larger diameter shaft than the stock Ford distributor, not sure of the size, but different.

.531" is the usual shaft dia. of a 460 dist.

MSD lists their bronze gear at .530". Unless Jeg's has it wrong.

the shaft is bigger than the gear....press fit.
