pro systems carb Empty pro systems carb

Post  chuck January 25th 2015, 10:01 pm

The car I bought has a pro systems dominater carb. I'm not a fan of the carb, but it's what I got for now. It has power valve in it, 88 main 96 secondary. I've always run q fuel and they don't come with power valves. Would I be better to take them out and square the Jets.

There are benefits to both ways. Configure it to how you are comfortable.

What's wrong with the carburetor?

Nitrous race application, nothing wrong. I always thought power valve were for the street.

Patrick has a web site where you can ask anything about his carbs, even if you did not buy it directly.
You just need the carb number on the side.

PV's are for fuel economy. Get rid of it.
No use on a race engine.

This depends on what type of racing you're doing....

Sure does. Some of the most fuel efficient carbs ever bolted to an engine were on NASCAR in the last years of carb engine requirements. Where pitting costs track time, a gallon of saved gas can make a huge difference in the outcome of a race.

Not everything tries to go in a straight line for 7 seconds.....

Even in N2O systems, power valve isn't always bad. The worst is where a plate is right below the carb and can really shock the air flow on the intial hit.

Dominators are no longer legal in NASCAR and they have long since caught the guys that were running spray.

Did NASCAR ever allow the 4500 series carberator? The fuel injection throttle body is 4500 series based... But in my short knowledge of the sport the carb of mandate had been the 4150

FoMoCo paid for the development of the Dominator carb. It was 1st used on the Boss 429 NASCAR engines.

Changed to a qf1250, car ran a 5.86 @ 117. With the Pro Systems 1250 the best was 6.10 @ 115. Thanks Lem and Phil.
