Sorry the truck has a 360 in it know i think has a funny looking water pumpif that helps. I know the trans in going to swap with a c6 for a 460 but all the engine/motor mounts i find say 4x4 only?

Heres what I would do. (And did)

Go down to the junk yard and find a mid 70"s F100-F350 4x2. Pull the mount towers. Each mount has 3 parts, the cup that bolts to the block, the stand that bolts to the frame, and the rubber mount part.

Its a bolt in affair.

I belive front or rear sump will work. Rear being less messy to drain the oil.

Look at the bottom of the page.

The engine cross member of your 76, is the same as my 72.

^^^yup that works just fine.

Factory 460 trucks came with a front sump so if you find the mounts grab the pan as well.

If you find a truck without the motor and are curious about the mounts 73-79 trucks (possibly other years too but Im not sure) with a 460 had a "J" engine code.

My first motor got about 10-12mpg in a 6000lb 79 Ford truck and was very reliable- d3 heads mildly ported, 9.5:1, comp X4262h comp cam and spring package, 1 3/4 tri-y headers, stealth intake and 750 vac secondaries. It made real good power low but would turn up pretty nice when pushed.

It's been a few years but I thought you could only use a front sump because the twin i beams are right behind the sump.

in my 76 2wd I used 66-67 390 fairlane mounts and swaped sides, LtoR, RtoL but only 2bolts line up and 460 it drops right in and with front sump, mines been in like that for 20yrs. with same mounts. and I run the hell out of it. Very Happy

ps: you can use front or rear sump dont matter

The I beams are under the engine cross member.

Now if you were running a really deep rear sump pan you might have issues with the steering linkage but I could be wrong on that.

I am not 100% positive but i believe you can use he l&l 4x4 conversion mounts(approx $125) on the two wheel drive if you have 351/400 towers.

I know thats true on 79 F250 4wd trucks but I dont think it is on 2wd. The motor towers (metal pieces that bolt to the frame) are completely different between 2 and 4wds so Im not sure how it would work. Also hes running a FE not a 351m/400. Razz

I know the stands are different but that is because the frame is different(no crossmember on the 4x4) but the width of the 351 is the same and a quick part search shows 2wd and 4wd 351/400's use the same mount. So the only catch i forsee isthe oilpan and a fox body pan could take care of that i believe.

no problem just trying to help a guy save a few bucks the original 2wd mount system is very hard to find around here and very expensive when you do find it.

you can use a car oilpan and if you do use a car pan just drill a new drain hole in the rear of the sump so it will drain in the rear alot less messey when changing oil I have done this on pans in my truck before

The last time i priced a set the stands, cups and dogbones were $250 but around here a faactory 460 truck is fairly rare. Also this was before the internet and ebay was so popular.

Go here...

Plug in the info requested, but search for an engine, the yards that will have an engine
will probably have what you need...
