NMRA Bowling Green with a couple pics
Spent the weekend in Bowling Green for the NMRA race. Had a good time despite the soggy weather and lack of track time. I go to this event in spite of how the NMRA treats the bracket racers. I go to see the other like minded racers, the swap meet, bench racing, BBQ, etc. Enjoyed hanging out with Ward, Keith (Copperhead), Dan Hobbs, Alan Mackin and several others.
Didn't get to stay until the end however. Due to rain on Fri and Sat they had to try and squeeze it all into Sunday. Late start due to water seeping up through the track and multiple oil downs. We didn't run our first round until almost 10 pm Sun night. I won and got ready for the next round. Them, about 10:45 they called it for the day. They were up against a midnight curfew and the dew had fallen. Track was going away. They planned to start at 9am today. Most of the bracket racers packed up and left. I rolled out at 11:30, got home at 3:15 this morning. 245 miles, 3:45 driving time with one pit stop.
Couple of pics of my car and Ward's. Ward left before first round to to gremlins in his trucks fuel tank pickup (01 7.3) and wanted to get home before too late. Had he stayed he would have had the quickest bracket car. It's coming along nicely. 1.16 60' on motor with a tight 10" spray converter and hose friendly cam. Mine is pretty much unchanged with just a freshen up on the glide and had the converter loosened by 150 rpm or so. Have made some shock adjustments and it's leaving with an attitude now.

I had a good time. I wold have like to have had more track time but there was too much of the wet stuff around. I feel like I have a good enough handle on it now to spray it. I'm very happy with times on motor. I sure would like to get a few pass's on the hose before winter time closes in.

Forgot to mention how Ward's car scares little children and old people lol. It incites looks of pure horror from the hi tech tuner/injection crowd with fender exit headers and 2 alky dominators poking through the hood. The stainless kitchen strainers on top of the carbs just set it off even more.

It was good talking to you David and the other guys at BG. ( Ward, Keith, and Dan Hobbs)
Too bad about the weather and I felt bad for the bracket racers.
I was one of the lucky ones I suppose.
I went there to get 3 test hits on the Bird and that's what I left with and some dyno time that left me with more questions than providing answers. ( another thread on here)

Yes Ward, I felt like a track hoarder after I got my 2nd pass Sunday morning before the bracket guys ever got their first of the weekend.

It's mainly a grudge car. So don't tell anyone. It went 5.24 with a 1.16 60 foot at 133 mph. Shifting at 6800 it crossed the line at 6500 it is geared for nos I had reg m1 methanol in it It was on motor only and has a bunch of timing pulled out to get down the crap tracks around here. Wish I could get enough track time in one spot to start spraying it.
